Paying in Advance

Funeral arrangements should be a part of your estate planning. Paying for these arrangements in advance can be handled in many ways: bank trust, insurance policy, certificates of deposit, etc. These methods each offer unique advantages and disadvantages, discuss your options with your Funeral Director before the need arises for help in choosing the payment option most appropriate for your family's situation. Here are a few items you should be aware of:

• Read all contracts carefully & know what you are signing
• Know what flexibility the contract offers if you remarry, relocate, or rethink the arrangements
• Know your right to cancel and if your state has recovery funds in case of fraud
• Be certain your family knows that you have made arrangements and where these arrangements are located

We currently offer several funding vehicles if you plan on paying your funeral expenses in advance. We offer your choice of the New Jersey Pre-Paid Funeral Trust Fund, Forethought life insurance or Fortis Life insurance. All three Pre-funding vehicles are highly regarded as among the best consumer friendly choices available. You can be assured that the funds will be held in your name in any of these three funding vehicles. The New Jersey Department of Consumers' Affairs does not allow any funeral home to co-mingle pre-funds with their operating funds. Thus, you can be confident that your accounts are not compromised.
