Emily Marie DeFilippo

Emily “Emmy” Marie DeFilippo, 75, of Manahawkin, NJ, formerly of Ewing Township, entered into eternal rest suddenly on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Private funeral services are under the direction of Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ.  

A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 120 Kearny Avenue, Kearny, NJ 07032 on Friday, January 30th, 2026 at 1:15pm.    Parking is available behind the Church which may be accessed off of Chestnut Street.

Born and raised in Kearny, Emily moved to Manahawkin upon her retirement.  Before that, she spent 18 wonderful years in Ewing Township,

where she raised her family and shared her passion for education as a dedicated teacher for the Ewing Township Board of Education.

Emily was a woman of faith and a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manahawkin. She was a proud graduate of St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. Emily embraced life fully—she was active in her community as a member of the Stafford Women’s Club and a regular visitor to Ken’s Kitchen. She loved traveling, reading, Broadway shows, music, and dancing. Most of all, Emily treasured time with her family and friends—whether exploring new places, relaxing at the beach, or creating cherished memories with her beloved grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.

Emily was the beloved wife of the late Louis DeFilippo III and the cherished daughter of the late Daniel and Emily Morrison. She is survived by her loving children: Louis DeFilippo IV and his wife Cristina, Daniel DeFilippo and his girlfriend, Evelyn, Laura DeFilippo and her husband Jeremiah, and Cali Marie DeFilippo; and by her adored grandchildren, Louie V and Ava DeFilippo. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Patricia Lombardi (and her late husband Joseph) and Cheryl “Sherry” Maudie (and her husband Raymond), along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Emily will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her laughter, generosity, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her.  She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
