Fidencia "Zenia" Sorhegui

Fidencia “Zenia” Sorhegui of Harrison, NJ entered into eternal rest, at St. Michael’s Hospital, on Friday, November 15, 2019. She was 89 years old.         

Funeral services are under the direction of the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029. Friends and relatives may visit on Friday, November 22^nd, from 8am to 9:45am. A Funeral mass will follow at the Holy Cross Church at 10:30am. Her interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Zenia came to the US in the 1980’s and was a lifelong resident of Harrison after living in Panama for a brief period of time. Zenia was a self-employed Artist whose art work was exhibited in an Art Expo in Cuba during the 1970’s. She was a school teacher in Playa Santa Fe, Cuba. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art at the Universidad San Rafael, Havana, Cuba.  

Being an Elementary School teacher, Zenia loved children and was a very kind person. She enjoyed designing floats and was highly thought of by her peers.

She is survived by her nieces & nephews, Marieta, Selma, Aymara, Casandra & Arturo Sorhegui, Aniuska (Michael) Mohan, Miguel and Jose Merzeau, and Alejandro Sorhegui. Zenia is also survived by 12 grandnieces and great grandniece.  She was predeceased by her Siblings Maria Merzeau (2019) and Silvino and Arturo Sorhegui.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home, in loving memory of Zenia.
