Giovina Viscomi

Giovina Viscomi, of Kearny, NJ, entered into eternal rest at Clara Maass Hospital on Monday, November 23, 2020. She was 83 years old.

The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave. Harrison, NJ 07029 on Friday November 27 at 9:45am. Friends and relatives may visit on Friday from 8:30am to 9:45am. A funeral mass will be offered at Holy Cross Church, Harrison at 10:30am. Her entombment will follow in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.

Giovina had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and Padre Pio, whom she met twice. She was known for her cooking, and was famous for her orecchiette, cavatelli, and the Christmas favorite, scartellate. She loved feeding everyone.

Born in Alberona, Foggia, Italy, Giovina came to the United States in 1968 on vacation when she met her husband, Littorio and decided to marry, not returning to Italy until 1976 with her husband and two children. They eventually got married on March 15, 1969 and lived in Harrison before moving to Kearny in 1987. She was a member of the North Arlington Seniors and a parishioner of Saint Stephen’s Church, Kearny for many years.

Giovina is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Littorio “Frank” Viscomi, her loving children, Vito and Caterina. She is also survived by her aunt and uncle, several brothers and sisters in law and twelve nephews and nieces also, many cousins in both countries United States and Italy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home, in loving memory of Giovina.
