Born in Lima, Peru to Eulogio and Clotide (Zegarra) Carhuavilca, she was the youngest of 18 siblings and the older sister to her little brother, Leoncio Carhuavilca. It was the long black hair and red sweater that caught the attention of Ernesto Herrera in 1946 and the couple married on May 10, 1953 at the ages of 23 and 28. The young couple had 4 children; Ernesto Mariano Herrera, Carlos Alberto Herrera, Luis Felipe Herrera, and Milagros Jesielly Herrera. After supporting the decision of their eldest son to begin a new life in the United States, Gregoria immigrated to the US with her husband, Ernesto in 1990. The pair settled in Harrison, NJ and eventually moved to Kearny several years ago.
Her past times included playing Flow on her tablet, knitting warm sweaters and socks for her family, helping make arts and crafts for the holidays, and watching Caso Cerrado and Laura.
Predeceased by her husband Ernesto (1997), Gregoria is survived by her loving children, Milagros and Carlos Herrera, by her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Andree, Nancy, Ernie, Magaly, Schantal, Nicole, and Elsa Herrera and her dear brother, Leoncio Carhuavilca. She was predeceased by her sons, Ernesto Mariano Herrera (2005) and Luis Felipe Herrera (2016).
