Born in Jersey City, Howard was raised in Hoboken, NJ, and moved to Harrison 46 years ago. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Pace University in Business Administration in 1971.
Howard was the director of Hudson County One Stop Program through the Hudson County Schools of Technology. He was also the President of the North Hudson Community Action Corporation from 1996-2005. He coached Little League in Harrison and Hoboken, a girls’ softball and girls’ basketball coach at High Tech High School and Harrison High School for many years. He also coached AAU basketball, NJ Rising Stars, out of Edison from 2007-2015. Howard was a stand-out athlete throughout his high school and college careers, and eventually played minor league baseball professionally for the St. Louis Cardinals. He also was a tremendous fast-pitch softball player, traveling all over the country with various teams including PBC out of Kearny, NJ. Howard was a member of the Hoboken Athletic Hall of Fame and a true athlete at heart.
Howard was an avid sports fan, and loved spending time with his family more than anything. His family was the most special part of his life. He was a man of so much knowledge, and he was so kind and generous. Howie was the type of man to give the shirt off of his back if it meant helping someone. Nothing made him happier.
