James "Jim" Dillon, Jr. Obituary

 

 

James “Jim” Dillon, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, formerly of Harrison and Lake Hiawatha, entered into eternal rest peacefully at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N. Carolina on Thursday November 21, 2024.  He was 75 years old.

 

The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029 on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 9:00am.   A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Harrison at 10:00am.   Friends and relatives of Jim and his family may attend the visitation on Friday, November 29th from 2:00 to 4:00pm & 7:00 to 9:00pm and after 8:45am Saturday.   His final disposition will be held privately.

 

Born in Jersey City, Jim was raised in Harrison.   After marriage, he and his wife, Diana lived in Harrison briefly before moving to Lake Hiawatha, NJ.  He was a Sheriff’s Officer for the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Jersey City for many years.   Prior to that, he served his Country in the United States Marines, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

 

Upon his retirement he moved to Four Oaks, North Carolina where he has lived for the past 7 years.  In his free time, he loved watching football and spending time with his dog, Holly They were inseparable.   He was a member of Second Battalion, Third Marine and enjoyed the annual get togethers with his fellow comrades.

 

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Diana, loving Sons, James (Nicole) and Robert (Daniella) Dillon.   He was a proud, loving Grandfather to his granddaughter, Payton and is also survived by his dear sister, Ellen Shelley.    He was predeceased by his parents, James and Marjorie Dillon.
