John Ogiela

John Ogiela of Harrison, NJ entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 27, 2023 in Harrison.  He was 74 years old.         

The Funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029 on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 9:15 am.  A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church of Harrison at 10 am. Friends and relatives may visit on Monday, September 4th from 2:00  to 6:00  pm and Tuesday morning after 8:45am.   His entombment will take place in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.

Born and raised in Poland, John immigrated to the US in the late 1950’s.     Most recently, he has lived in Harrison, NJ since 1976.  John attended Our Lady of Czestochowa School and went on to Harrison High School where he graduated in 1969.  He worked for Holy Cross Cemetery as a Groundskeeper for many years, retiring in 2013.  He was a member of the Polish National Home on Cleveland Avenue in Harrison for many years prior to its closing as well as the Lithuanian Catholic Community Center on Davis Avenue in Kearny many years ago.   

In his free time, he enjoyed the Bus trips to Atlantic City, with his fellow Harrisonians, Riding his bike and volunteering his time to help maintain the local soccer fields. 

Predeceased by his wife, Karolina Ogiela (2013) John is survived by his loving children, Richard (Jill Gensinger) and Stella (Danny Burgos), cherished grandchildren, Madelyn Rose Ogiela and Daniel Richard Burgos, dear siblings, Chester Ogiela and Anna Bronner and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Harrison, in care of the funeral home in loving memory of John.
