John Paul Kozdron, retired Fire Captain of the Harrison, NJ Fire Department, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 28, 2021. He was 75 years old.
The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029 on Wednesday, June 2nd at 9:45am. A funeral mass will be offered at Holy Cross Church, Harrison at 10:30am. Friends and relatives may visit Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm and Wednesday after 9am. His cremation will be private.
John is predeceased by his parents Milton A. and Genevieve Kozdron, Sr. (nee Lewczak), his wife, Norma Gacho Kozdron, his sisters, Judith Kozdron Blain and her Spouse, Robert Blain of Prattsville, NY and Carol Kozdron O”Hara and her spouse, James O’Hara of Belleville, NJ.
He is survived by his sister, Joanna Kozdron Mattos and her husband Gilbert Mattos of Byram Township, NJ and his brother Milton A. Kozdron, Jr. and his wife, Anne McLaughlin Kozdron of Manchester, NJ his fiancé, Natalie Duque and her three children, Hezekiah and Isaiah Henderson and Angelina Little, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Harrison High School in 1964. He served in the US Navy on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. After John completed his time in the Navy, he worked at Western Electric for a while and then decided to become a firefighter. John joined the Harrison Fire Department and worked his way to became Captain, and he was a certified EMT.
John enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, and he loved to sing and dance, and he liked to cook. He was also interested in photography. John loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed taking them bowling and fishing.
John was a member of the Elks. He was a Good Samaritan and was always prepared to lend a helping hand to someone in need. He would send needed items to the poor people in the Philippines, the homeland of his wife, Norma.
He was a communicant and an usher at Holy Cross Church in Harrison, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Harrison Fireman’s Juvenile Fund in care of the funeral home in loving memory of John.
