It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josefa Gonzalez, lovingly known as Pepita, on October 24, 2024, at the age of 91. Born in Pobra do Caramiñal in Galicia, Spain, Josefa eventually made her way to the United States, where she embraced a new life.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm at the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029 on Satruday, October 26, 2024.   Friends and relatives of Josefa may visit the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00pm.   Her final disposition will be held privately.

Josefa found her calling as a hairdresser eventually opening her own business, Pepita’s Beauty Salon in Harrison. For over 30 years, the salon was more than just a place of beauty; it was a place to get together and enjoy each other’s company.

Josefa is pre deceased by her husbands Emilio Lijo and Marcelino Gonzalez.

Josefa’s legacy lives on through her daughter, Carmela.

Her love extended to her son in law Ramon Fernandez and her grandchildren, Patricia and Emilio, with whom she shared many cherished memories. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Eduardo, who brought light into her life in her later years.

In addition to her family, Josefa leaves behind a community of friends and clients who were touched by her wit and perseverance.

Josefa’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
