She moved to Harrison in 1967 and had resided there ever since. She worked as a Seamstress for many years, becoming the Shop Steward of the International Ladies Garments Workers Union (ILGW). She was a Parishioner of Holy Cross Church, Harrison, NJ for many years. She was also a member of Centro Romeu Cascaes Portuguese American Community Center Harrison, N.J. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Lucinda, who left this world surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was the heart and soul of our family, a woman of incredible warmth, generosity, unwavering strengthand full of life.
Lucinda carried her Portuguese heritage with pride, cherishing every visit back to her homeland, always arriving with suitcases full of gifts for loved ones. She had a true talent for sewing, the local tailor… whether it was crafting beautiful clothes, curtains, or tablecloths, or simply mending and fixing what others could not.
Lucinda’s home was a place of love, laughter, and, most of all, delicious food. She found joy in cooking and hosting family gatherings, serving up cherished dishes like Chicken cutlets, Bacalhau, and her famous Rissóis, which will forever be remembered as a taste of her love.
Her kindness knew no bounds. Lucinda had a heart of gold, full of generosity and always looking for ways to help those in need, whether through small acts of kindness or giving back to the less fortunate. She was a true example of selflessness and compassion, always putting others before herself.
Lucinda’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the traditions she passed down, the countless memories and words of wisdom she created with her family and friends. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit and love for life will continue to guide and inspire us all.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rest in peace, dear Lucinda. Your love will forever remain in our hearts.
