Mary Ann Kennel, (nee O’Grady) of Harrison, Entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, NJ. She was 79 years old.
The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029 at 12:15pm. A funeral mass will be offered at Holy Cross Church, Harrison, at 1pm. Friends and relatives may visit on Tuesday from 10am - 12pm. Her entombment will take place in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
Mary Ann was born on Christmas Day 1942 in Newark and was raised there as a child. She resided in Harrison since 1978. She was a very special and unique person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Even her date of birth was unique, as she was born under the Star of Bethlehem, which only appears once every 974 years.
She worked at Woolworth’s Department Store in New York for 30 years, and for Pathmark in Kearny for 10 years. She was a member of Union UFCW Local # 1262, Clifton, NJ.

Mary Ann is survived by her Husband Richard Kennel of 57 years, her nieces and nephews, Joan (Raul) Sloezen, Michael O’Grady, Rosemary Kaufman, Patricia (Jose) Maderro, Doreene (John) Demarest and William Heutel, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
