Mary Elizabeth Petro

Mary E. Petro (Egan), of Toms River, formerly of Harrison, entered into eternal rest peacefully at Juniper Village of Paramus on Monday, November 24, 2025. She was 72 years old.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Paul in July 2024, her cherished son Albert John Petro in 2014, and her parents John J. and Mary Elizabeth Egan.

She is survived by her loving siblings: John Egan and his wife Kim, Charlie Egan and his late wife Terry, Joan Walsh and her husband Brian, Phil Egan and his wife Patty, and her sister Helen Dec.

Mary dedicated nearly 25 years as a Registered Nurse retiring from Community Medical Center, where her compassion and skill touched countless lives. Committed to lifelong learning, she earned her Associates in Applied Science in Nursing from Essex County Community College and later completed her BSN at Kean University.

Her greatest joy was the beach, her happy place, where she vacationed every year and found peace in the sound of the waves.

Friends and relatives of Mary and her family are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 3:00 pm during the visitation hours on Saturday.  Her final disposition will be held privately. 

Mary will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and love of family. She will be deeply missed.

May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
