Miller “Mickey” DiSalvo, of Ortley Beach and Kauai, Hawaii, formerly of Harrison and Wallington, NJ entered into eternal rest peacefully at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank on Monday November 11, 2024. He was 81 years old.
The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029 on Friday, November 15th, 2024 at 9:45am. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, Harrison at 10:30am. Friends and relatives of Mickey and his family may visit on Thursday, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday morning after 9:00 am.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Mickey grew up in Harrison. After marriage, he moved to Wallington. He was a Parishioner of Holy Cross Church Harrison for many year. Mickey was a Fireman for the Harrison Fire Department for 30 years and 3 months. He was appointed as a Fireman in December of 1967, Promoted to a Fire Captain in March of 1985, and was promoted to Deputy Chief in January of 1990, eventually retiring in April of 1998. Upon his retirement, he was the Assistant Manager of the Harrison Police and Fireman’s Federal Credit Union, Harrison, NJ. He also split time between Kauai, Hawaii and Ortley Beach, NJ. During that time, he served as a Volunteer Firefighter for the Ocean Volunteer Fire Company, Lavallette, NJ. when he wasn’t spending the Winter in Hawaii.
Mickey was the FMBA President “Local 22” for 12 years, Harrison FMBA Executive Delegate for 22 years, Police & Fire Retirement System Trustee for 16years, A member of the Moose Lodge #656, Harrison, he was their “Man of the Year” for 1985, a member of the NJ Deputy Chief’s Association and their “Man of the Year” for 1998.
He was also involved in many other organizations including, NJPFRS Fire Representative, NJ State Investment Council, State FMBA Picnic Chairman, State FMBA Newspaper Editor, Deputy Chief Association Trustee, Knights Of Columbus, Harrison, NJ, a Member of Tuite Beasly Association, Harrison Pleasure Club Member, Cifelli Association Member,
Mickey is survived by his loving Sons, Michael and Darren DiSalvo, his two precious grandchildren Abby and Daniel. He was predeceased by his sister Judy Smith in 2023 and his parents, Miller M. and Adelaide DiSalvo.
