Stanislaw "Stanley" Gronet

Stanislaw “Stanley” Gronet, 90, entered into eternal rest peacefully in his home on September 19, 2024 in Harrison, New Jersey.  He was born on May 16, 1934 in Woluszewo, Poland, to the late Marianna and Teodor Gronet.  His early childhood was during WWII which led to many interesting stories he would retell later in life. When he wasn’t going to school and working on the family farm, he belonged to a traveling dance ensemble where he cultivated his love of dance which continued his entire life. 

Stanley moved to the United States in 1963 with his wife and children and worked numerous jobs providing for his family both here and in Poland. He was lovingly given the nickname “MacGyver” because of his inventive way of fixing and creating things. His most recent employment was as a maintenance mechanic at Peridot Chemical where he was seriously injured, sustaining third degree chemical burns over much of his face and body.  Doctors did not expect him to survive. He then received his second nickname, “Miracle Man”, when he proved them all wrong with his strength and sheer will.  He lived another 30 years fishing, gardening, and cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.

Stanley is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Suzanna nee Romanowska, daughters Anna Camaiore (Peter) and Barbara, grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas (Randi), Kyle (Ashley), great grandchildren Emma, Madilyn, and Isla, and niece Ursula Romanowski.

He was predeceased by his brothers Maniek (Halina) and Jasiek (Teresa), but is survived by his other brothers Jurek (Krystyna) and Leszek (Barbara), sisters Halina Lisowska (Jurek), Krystyna Rachuba (Kazik) and Bozena Kwiatkowska (Kazik), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Mulligan Funeral Home 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029  from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.  A funeral mass will be held in Polish on Tuesday, September 24, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Harrison at 10:30am and his Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
