Stanley A. Shimkus Obituary

 

Stanley “Stan” A. Shimkus, of Hopatcong, NJ, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on Friday, June 25th 2021. He was 51 years old.
 

The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029 on Friday, July 2nd at 9:15 am.   A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Harrison at 10am.   His interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.    Friends and Relatives may visit on Thursday, July 1st from 4 to 8 pm and Friday morning after 8:45am.

Born in Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, Stan was raised and lived in Kearny before he moved to Hopatcong, NJ 7 years ago.    He graduated from Lincoln Tech and The Teterboro School of Aeronautics after graduating from Kearny High School.   He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for the US Postal Service at the Dominick V. Daniels Processing and Distribution Center for 20+ years.

 

In his free time, he loved to work with his hands and build things, as he was very gifted at creating things.  His family was very important to him and any chance that he had to spend time with them was cherished.   Anyone that met or knew him, knew that he had a heart of gold.  

 

He is survived by his beloved parents, Stanley and Mary Shimkus, Jr., a loving sister, Laura Martone and her husband, Dave, cherished nephew and niece, Ryan Villalta and his fiancé Heather, and Nancy Godzwon and her husband, Andrew, his dear great nephew, Ryan James Villalta and his Uncle George Monahan and his wife, Barbara.  

 

He was predeceased by his nephew, Victor Alex Villalta.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: The American Heart Association in care of the funeral home in loving memory of Stanley.
