Theresa “Terry” Thompson, of Point Pleasant NJ, formerly of Brick and East Newark, entered into eternal rest, peacefully in Point Pleasant, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. She was 86 years old.

Theresa was born and raised in Kearny, NJ before moving to East Newark, NJ. Later, she moved to Brick, NJ, where she resided for 25 years, before moving to Point Pleasant most recently. Theresa was a dedicated, loving, full time mom whose life revolved around her loving children’s lives. Theresa’s devotion to her children was always evident in her actions. She was kind, compassionate and generous in spirit. Throughout her life, Theresa radiated love. Theresa also worked part time for Macy’s in Newark, NJ in the Customer Care area for many years. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Harrison and, subsequently, a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church in Brick. Theresa loved animals and enjoyed taking care of her cocker spaniel. She also liked to walk with her friends and visit the local shops.
Predeceased by her son Charles in 2013, Theresa is survived by her loving children, Dave and his wife Tara, Diane DeFilippo, and Bill Thompson, 6 cherished grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Bret, Garret Thompson, Trevor DeFilippo, and Joshua Neuman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Theresa, was predeceased by her sisters, Jane Mathewson, Kate Sharkey and her brother, Jimmy Cleary.
The funeral will be conducted from the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue Harrison, NJ 07029 on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 9:15am. A funeral mass will be offered at Holy Cross Church, Harrison at 10:00am. Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday September 10th from 1:00 pm to 4:30pm and Monday morning after 8:45am. Her interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
