Victor "Ski" Varela

Victor “Ski” Varela entered into eternal rest on February 16, 2025. He was 51 years young. Ski was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on June 4, 1973. He was raised in Essex County the majority of his life and New Jersey has always been Home.

Ski graduated from West Side High school in Newark NJ. Having a successful career as an Auto Mechanic, freelance landscaper and a construction worker. He is survived by his Father, Ivan Varela Sr. only son Victor Varela Jr., and a Daughter Naomi Varela. He is also survived by his brother Ivan Varela Jr., Sisters Sonia Varela Montano and Norma Varela, and cherished Granddaughter, Alayah Varela Nelson.

Ski was always a family oriented man and met the Love of His life, his wife, Molly Pagan of 25 years in September of 1998.  Shortly thereafter along came his beautiful daughter in 1999. Throughout the trials and tribulations of life, first and foremost he always was the protector of his family. His charismatic personality spoke volumes when he walked into a room screaming “Rough Riders!!” often bringing everyone to laughter.

Ski had such a big heart, he was a great husband, father, grandfather, Uncle, and brother.  But don’t let him get on a roll, his grand sense of humor always had jokes for days and he was relentless! He enjoyed playing basketball, dominos, card games and listening to music. Anything this man put his mind to he could accomplish. He always had a fresh outfit, fresh sneakers, one earing and matching socks.  EVERYTHING had to match. It was just his way or no way!  With that being said, he was the sweetest pain in the butt that you could have as a family member. Also the most mesmerizing one, one of our strongest family members because no matter what he showed resilience with this life he was given and chose to keep fighting for his family. We love you with all of our hearts.

Friends and relatives of Ski and his family are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, February, 23, 2025 from 1:00pm to 5:00 pm and after 11:00 am on Monday at the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison, NJ 07029.    His final disposition will be held privately.
