Funeral arrangements should be a part of your estate planning. Paying for these arrangements in advance can be handled in many ways: bank trust, insurance policy, certificates of deposit, etc. These methods each offer unique advantages and disadvantages, discuss your options with your Funeral Director before the need arises for help in choosing the payment option most appropriate for your family's situation. Here are a few items you should be aware of:
We currently offer several funding vehicles if you plan on paying your funeral expenses in advance. We offer your choice of the New Jersey Pre-Paid Funeral Trust Fund, Forethought life insurance or Fortis Life insurance. All three Pre-funding vehicles are highly regarded as among the best consumer friendly choices available. You can be assured that the funds will be held in your name in any of these three funding vehicles. The New Jersey Department of Consumers' Affairs does not allow any funeral home to co-mingle pre-funds with their operating funds. Thus, you can be confident that your accounts are not compromised.
What if I relocate or move and have pre-funded my funeral Arrangements?
Your pre-paid funeral arrangements are transferable to any funeral home in the United States. Or, if you think that you will want to return “home” upon your passing, your pre-paid arrangements can remain with our firm.
If you decide to transfer the arrangements, a written authorization is needed. A written authorization is also needed for refund requests. All such authorizations are promptly honored.
